Get Connected:

Coming out of the holidays is a wonderful time for some of us… it’s our chance to get back to normal and start a new year with new passion and focus.

For others of us, coming out of the holidays is a painful time.  Feelings of loneliness, abandonment, & hopelessness are very common for a huge percentage of the population that faces a lack of close family and friends in their lives.

The bible talks about this problem many times:

Genesis 2:18 says, “it’s not good for man to be alone”.  Exodus 18:18 says, “the work is too heavy for you to handle alone”.  Ecclesiastes 4:11 says, “Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone”?
Those are just a few of the places that God speaks very specifically about the negative affect of living this life alone.   For most people, they didn’t choose this path… but, because of tragedy or loss, they were left in this position.  For others, choices they made themselves left them here.  In either situation, God’s will for our lives is not to stay in that place, but to GET CONNECTED again.

It’s important to God that we walk this life with people around us who support us, who have similar beliefs, who will hold us up when we’re down, and who will speak the truth to us in love.

My prayer for you in this New Year is to GET CONNECTED or RE-CONNECTED to relationships and/or groups of people that once brought us encouragement and life.  You can find this in a church body that you love and that loves you… you can also find it in making a fresh effort to be available to friends and family that maybe you’ve shut out for various reasons, but have felt for a long time that need to be reconciled.  Humble yourself and re-connect… it’s God’s plan for all of us.
